James Reese is a legendary figure in the Deep-Funk scene since his work has been released on several compilations like Stones Throw's fabulous "Funky 16 Corners". His one and only ever released 7" single "Let's go (It's summertime)" b/w "Jody's freeze", which was re-issued by Jazzman Records some years ago, was recorded at the Mark V studios in Greenville, South Carolina in 1969. Trombonist James Reese hit the studio again about 6 years later. His goal was to record an updated, disco-fied version of "Let's go (It's summertime)" which, until this day, had remained unreleased. Recorded at The Sound Pit studios in Atlanta, Georgia, James Reese produced and arranged the session on his own. As a special gift to collectors we pressed two different issues. Only available from our website comes a white label promotional issue. Limited to 200 copies, be quick as once it is gone you'll never have the chance to call it your own.
