Though the term had yet to be coined back then, The Fabulous Wailers have since been referred to as the first Garage Rock outfit ever. Hailing from Tacoma, Washington, the same city that birthed the Sonics and many other notable Garage groups besides, the Wailers begun their career in the late 50s. Their sound was an organic fusion of Rhythm & Blues and Rock and Roll that sounded like little else before it. 'Mashi', a frenetic, uptempo instrumental grinder is typical of the group's sound, which like the more languid and sleazy 'On The Rocks', still sounds remarkably fresh more than fifty years later.
