I Wish You Knew

A 3 track broken beat single (15m 2s) — released October 1st 2007 on Unique Uncut

I Wish You Knew is the debut single from Greymatter and Emma Brammer Greymatter aka Graham Luckhurst is best known as a diverse and experienced soulful music DJ, and founder of the Unique Uncut collective/imprint and the Basement Soul club session. His dancefloor sound fuses all forms of soul music from all era's... 'freestyle soul music' as he refers to it (in an effort to try and get rid of peoples preconceptions of what a genre sounds like). This is his first solo production. He hosts the monthly Mr Bongo Records radio show on Samurai FM and is a member of the Mr Bongo, Basement Soul and Russ Dewbury's Jazzrooms Allstars DJ collectives. He has played alongside the likes of Gilles Peterson, DJ Yoda, Rainer Truby, Benji B, DJ Marky, DJ Patife, The Nextmen, Howie B, Omar, Fink, Andy C, 4Hero, Koop, Marcelo D2, Fingathing, Danny Breaks, Mark de Clive Lowe, Phil Hartnoll (Orbital), Novalima, Evil Nine, Wajeed... Emma Brammer is one of the most interesting emerging vocalists/writers in the UK at the moment, boasting a sweet but powerful soul vocal that has been compared to Alice Russell. She is a regular freestyle vocalist at the World Percussion Sessions in Camden and has sung with artists such as DJ Flight and Deeizm The track is a discofied broken beat dancefloor number with a powerful vocal hooks and layers, laden with stabs and sythns. This has been doing damage for a long time at Greymatter's 'Basement Soul' club sessions but this is the first time it has had a proper release. It has received support from Dom Servini (Wah Wah), Phil Cooper (Sick Trumpet), Ryan Hunn (Fat City) and Russ Dewbury amongst others.
