Andy Ash

Astro Travellin' ep

Released: 20th July 2009 | 4 track deep house ep
Another artist premiered on the Album and 12' sampler, Liverpool's Andy Ash drops a full EP for the label Astro Travellin' features on the second 'This Is What the Universe Sounds Like' Vinyl sampler and get a great response from promo, so we wanted to follow it up with more material from Andy, and the resulting EP will not disappoint. First up we have the title track, 'Astro Travellin', a shimmering midtempo groove that will ignite the dancefloor despite its slow pace, steadily building and dropping in all the right places Next up we slightly up the tempo and bring you the deep sublime grooves of 'Going Down', a hypnotic vocal refrain nuzzles up alongside a solid groove and warm guitar licks for a proper summer track, will sound great on the terraces, in the fields and on the beaches over the coming months. We follow this with Paracosm, again upping the tempo and cut from a slightly more electronic cloth, more of a bumping house groove but still retaining the same warmth and depth of sound Finally we have Raindance, retaining the same deep and bumping house not house sound, an upping the tempo slightly again to reach the climax of a quality EP… ANDY ASH BIOG Andy Ash first began producing and DJing in his early teens, taking inspiration from house producers and DJ's such as Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Carl Craig and a whole host of others. Influenced from listening to DJ's such as these from an early age Andy has been digging into different sounds from across the musical spectrum in order to create his own blend of disco, house, techno and anything else that fits. In both Andy Ash's productions and DJ sets now, the influences are clear: the vibe of Madlib and the Mizells and the expression of Theo and Coltrane. Learning the lessons taught by these greats while filtering it through his own misspent musical youth makes for a refreshing sound that always has at least one foot on the dancefloor. Still in his early twenties, Andy has a bright future on the eclectic side of things. Andy has recently begun to release his own blend of house and disco with a double 12 on Chicago's Stillove4music, several releases on Five20East records and this forthcoming release for Universal Vibes.
