Paper Tiger - Sonic Boom Head Zoom 2

Paper Tiger

Sonic Boom Head Zoom 2

Wah Wah 45s

Released: 6th October 2017 | 14 track alternative rap/hip-hop ep

In 2013 Paper Tiger released their long-awaited debut album 'Laptop Suntan' on Wah Wah 45s. In the run-up to its release, they released a live, improvised mixtape called 'Sonic Boom Head Zoom', some of which ended up as short interludes on the album.

On 8th September, the band went on to release a remix record, 'Sultan Ant Pop'. As well as receiving contributions from some of their favourite producers (LV, Werkha, Murder He Wrote, Bambooman and more), they decided to record more brand new music to mould it into a coherent listening experience.

As a result, we now have 'Sonic Boom Head Zoom 2'. Clocking in at over 30 minutes, it's a deeper, darker and weirder affair than its predecessor despite being produced in the same way - 100% live, totally improvised and recorded in a single day. There's head-nodding grooves, bizarre and hilarious rhymes from MC Raphael Attar, space-jazz excursions and much more.

"“Solid instrumental excursions that touch on everything from twisted beats to dance floor jams and dubby melancholia. Basically, it’s solid, like the laptop I’m writing this on.”"

"“That is wonderful! Well worth a look.”"
Nemone, BBC Radio 6Music
"Paper Tiger are making their way to the forefront of alternative hip hop… They carve themselves a niche in your music listening interest someway off from everyone else, and while at first that might make them seem like the socially awkward kid at the party, before long you see them as the aloof innovators everyone’s trying to be.”"
